'Lighting & Recycling' Product Design Workshop
On Friday 15th January sixteen Year 9 pupils took part in a creative workshop with artist/designer Beccy Williams who is based in Liverpool. Beccy specialises in making products, mostly jewellery and lighting out of materials and objects we would normally throw away.
During the day long workshop the pupils created a composite material from crisp packets, sweet wrappers, fabric waste and electrical wire. The material is very decorative and can be cut and shaped in a wide variety of ways.
On this occasion the pupils used the recycled material to make their own unique table lamps.
A very enjoyable time was had by all who took part in the workshop and as well as being able to develop their creative skills the pupils learned some valuable lessons in relation to recycling and waste management.
