Our school is a multi cultural community of pupils, staff, parents and carers, and the local community. All of equal value. The primary purpose of our school is learning and all members are entitled to experience success. We value their efforts and celebrate diversity.
We are a school comprising 1200 pupils and 177 staff (teaching and non-teaching), situated on the
northern outskirts of Blackburn with Darwen and serves the communities on the northern edge of the town.
The progress we have made in recent years was recognised in our most recent Ofsted (November 2007) which reported the following:
'Pleckgate is a good school. Several aspects of its work are outstanding. It is rightly popular with parents who value the positive and caring ethos that permeates all aspects of its work. Students enjoy school greatly. All groups of students progress equally well since equality of opportunity is clearly promoted. Students progress well because teaching and learning are good and becuase students understand the value of education and work hard.'
In September 2005 we achieved specialist status in Mathematics & Computing which has resulted in refurbishment of all areas of the school and investment in up-to-date
technologies to improve the quality of learning. Results in the last three years have progressed considerably and in the summer of 2008 we achieved our highest ever results at both KS4

Balfour Beatty have been identified as the contractors who will build our £25 million new school. For more details on the excellent and inspiring design see our BSF Page
