What is an Extended School?

A school located at the heart of the community meeting the requirements of the Every Child Matters agenda.

An extended school works with the local authority and other partners to offer access to a range of services and activities which will support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential.

The Benefits

The benefits of an extended school include improving relationships with the students, parent carers and the local and wider community, enabling activities to be shaped around the needs of those involved.  It allows for greater flexibility, convenience and accessibility for families, assisting in a better balance between work and family life.

We continue to develop the use of the school for the community by running evening sessions for the general public to participate in.  At the moment we are currently offering courses in the following areas:-

GIGAJAM - this popular class enables you to learn how to play a musical instrument at your own pace. Available for ages 11 -100!

TABLE TENNIS - for individuals or families, with specialist coaching provided.

INGOTs - International Grades in Open Technologies which is an ICT computer course aimed at people of all levels of ability.

GCSE - Adult Mathematics classes.

Please continue to check the website for further evening classes starting February 2010.

DONT FORGET

For our pupils school is open before and after curriculum hours for the following activities:-

A morning breakfast club - toast and a drink from 7.15 am.

After school homework club in the CLC from 3.00 - 4.00 pm

Table Tennis Club, Thursday and Friday mornings from 8.00 am.
