On Friday 19th June, some famous faces arrived at Pleckgate High School. 'Flava' are best known for reaching the semi finals of ITVs Britain's Got Talent 2008 but now Flava are working with the police force to carry a message about 'Youth Anti Social Behaviour' and to inspire children of all ages to have an interest and to live their dreams.
Flava delivered two workshops to a total of around 100 pupils to build confidence through the power of dance. Pupils learnt a routine which included dance styles such as Hip Hop, Lyrical and Break Dancing which they then performed at the end of the workshop. The workshop also included confidence building games, a set warm up, how to cool down and an inspirational talk from Flava.
Both boys and girls had a chance to try different dance styles and by the end of the workshop all pupils performed these dances with confidence. Many of them said they had been very inspired to try new things and would now like to continue with dancing because they discovered they had a new talent. Hopefully after this workshop pupils will have gained a confidence to try something new and achieve everything they dream of in life.
