'Grease' was the 'word', March was the 'time', Pleckgate the 'place'. The 'motion' or rather the 'action' was provided by a young, but extremely enthusiastic, yet talented bunch of pupils drawn mainly from Years 7, 8 and 9. They energetically danced and sang their way through every number and recited their lines using every emotion possible. The dancers and cast, again choreographed by Miss Blears and this year, Miss Wildon, threw themselves into the lively and enthusiastic 'Hand Jive' - so much so, poor Mrs Gordon, in her role of 'Miss Lynch' was quite 'overcome and flustered!' The stalwart Year 11 dancers looked divine during their 'last dance' - 'Teen Angel'. The chorus line and band, under the expert and knowledgeable guidance of our musical director, Mr Ashmore, 'shook, rattled and rolled' with the sort of experience that could once have graced the floor at 'The Hammersmith Palais'. Mind, some did get their 'shoo wop-pee-doo-bees' confused with their 'bee-bop-de-loo-pees. Miss Huntriss and her 'boys and girls - in the black stuff' made sure the stage evolved from one scene to another, as if by magic. It was if the whole team thought it was performing on Broadway rather than in Blackburn.
Below, are some of the thoughts of the members of the cast.
'On Thursday and Friday, 19th & 20th March, the rock and roll musical 'Grease' was performed. We had a very young cast made up from pupils in Years 7, 8 & 9. Some staff were also in the cast and chorus.
This production wouldn't be a success without Mrs Pearson, the Director. This was her last production and we will miss her loads.
Thank you, Mrs P for making this production, and lots of others happen.'

'We thought that the 'Grease' production went really well. It was really fun to do, complicated and hard to pull together. But, as ever, we managed to do it! We know the cast loved being in it and the audience enjoyed watching it. We had some little problems such as when some cast members forgot to come on stage at the right time but we managed to get round it. Heidi came back to school to make a guest appearance as 'Rizzo' To conclude, we absolutely enjoyed acting beside our fellow school mates in this special production 'Grease'.
