Pleckgate has three home school liaison officers who have worked extremely hard to develop strong links.
Pleckgate's Home School Liaison team consists of Michelle Varzandeh (Attendance Manager), Mohmed Sufi (Senior Home School Liaison Officer) and Yasmin Jamil. These staff have become very familiar to parents and members of the community through their rigorous endeavours and frequent dealings with carers.
The Home School Liaison Team have worked diligently in creating a partnership with carers, and helping to develop an atmosphere of trust and co-operation. One of their principal duties is to monitor attendance. The school operates a first day response, in that if a child is absent from school then carers will receive a phone call to establish the whereabouts of that child, and to determine a likely return to school date.
The Home School Liaison Team will also do home visits to pupils who have been absent from school for a lengthy period and will liaise between teachers and pupils ensuring that vital school work is received and that no pupil is put at a disadvantage as a result of illness.
The success of the Home School Liaison Team can be witnessed through the excellent attendance of the school with 94.4% in 2007/2008.
