We are delighted to confirm that Pleckgate High School Mathematics & Computing College is in the first phase of this Government sponsored initiative which will see all of the secondary schools in Blackburn with Darwen rebuilt or refurbished. Pleckgate High School is going to be one of the sample schools which will mean it will actually be the first school to be totally rebuilt, hopefully with an opening early in 2012. A lot of work is currently underway planning for this exciting development and parents, pupils, governors, staff and the local community will be involved in this exciting venture.
The New School - Organisation of Learning
Autumn 2008
We are now beginning the process of meeting with prospective bidders and have produced outline plans which show how we want to organise learning. This will be in FOUR main zones as follows:
| DISCOVERY | Science & Maths |
| CREATIVITY | Art and Technology |
| COMMUNICATION & | English, Humanities, Languages & |
| GLOBAL LEARNING | Citizenship |
| ACTIVITY | PE, Music, Drama |
ICT will feature across all zones. In addition there will be an area at the heart of the school dedicated to LEARNER SUPPORT.
The following diagrams show our thoughts on how some areas will be organised (please note that at this stage these are not building designs).
