Learning Managers

Pastoral Care is at the heart of Pleckgate School and has been the foundation on which the school has been built.  Pleckgate is a caring school and all staff within the school contribute to the Pastoral system ensuring that the emotional, social and general well being of pupils is paramount in our approach to nurturing the development of our students.

There are 5 year group teams each led by a Learning Manager.  The year groups are divided into tutor groups - 10 in Years 7 & 8 and 8 in Years 9, 10 and 11 (we are working towards all year groups being divided into 10 tutor groups).  The Tutor will remain with these groups from transition in Year 7 through to leaving at the end of Year 11.  This allows strong links between teacher/pupil as well as teacher/carer to develop and helps to create an atmosphere of trust, help and co-operation.

This system successfully provides pupils with the relevant care and support which they require and has recently received an outstanding recommendation from our last OFSTED report.
