Lower school follow the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
All pupils are taught to respect other faiths and beliefs and are given opportunities to explore their own. They have the opportunity to study all six major world religions with an emphasis on Interfaith Dialogue in Year 9. Pupils are assessed at the end of each unit of work using National Curriculum levels.
All pupils in Years 10 and 11 follow a GCSE RE course. This includes their Citizenship entitlement. This is a 'moral issues' based course which allows pupils to explore their own and others beliefs about: creation, believing in God, politics, crime and punishment, marriage and family, social harmony and poverty. All issues are studied from a Christian and Muslim perspective as well as a humanist viewpoint. All pupils are entered for an exam at the end of KS4 either Full GCSE or Short GCSE with some pupils completing the entry level certificate.
