The school has a successful merit scheme that rewards pupils for outstanding work or effort, good attendance and punctuality, helpfulness and kindness. There are also special prizes awarded to pupils for a variety of reasons e.g. coping with illness or disability, subject and citizenship prizes which are presented at the Annual Awards evening in November.
All pupils agree to the Code of Conduct and misdemeanours are dealt with appropriately. Whilst our staff try to counsel pupils rather than issue sanctions, detention does exist. If a child is placed in detention
then parents will receive a letter and twenty-four hours notice will be given. Our view is that no-one has the right to interfere with another person's learning. Good behaviour is essential for effective learning and we expect parents to support us in our endeavour to stamp out instances of anti-social behaviour and to ensure their children uphold the school rules.
All pupils are expected to attend school punctually and to be prompt to all lessons and registration. We establish good punctuality habits in our young people. The official starting time is 8.30am although we expect pupils to be at school at least 10 minutes before that.
